As we wrap up 2024, we’re taking a look at some of the best new restaurants of the year. If you haven’t tried these eats, you’re missing out! Here are some of our favourite new openings – don’t let another year pass before you check them out.
Sushiya Bloom
Dine under a canopy of cherry blossoms while enjoying sushi or noodles at Mississauga’s newest Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant, which opened in November. The breadth of options means there are plenty of choices for every palette. The tempura here is a standout, while the presentation and fresh ingredients are quickly making this a fan-favourite.
Azkadenya
A Mediterranean fast-casual favourite, the menu here spans from breakfast to dinner so you can grab some homey Halal comfort food at any time. Popular menu picks include the mezza trays featuring house-made hummus among other small plates, and its renowned shawarma. The mana’eesh street food offerings are made with fresh pita – enough said. There’s nothing better than freshly baked bread.
Lago Pizza and Pasta Bar
Local Mississauga Chef Lino Di Cecca and Chef Guillermo opened Lago in October to much acclaim, bringing authentic Napoletani vibes to Mississauga. The elegant modern-rustic interior and the patio reminiscent of a Naples bistro are right at home in the charming village of Port Credit. The chef-curated menu serves a range of unpretentious, made-from-scratch Italian fare ranging from antipasti to pizza and dessert favourites like tiramisu.
Thai Barn Na
A family-owned Thai restaurant with a space as bright and vibrant as its flavours, guests can enjoy a taste of flavours from Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and more. Visitors love the variety, with vegan, halal and gluten-free options, along with totally customizable spice levels that go from zero to 12 “Double Thai.” The menu includes all the classic dishes that fans of Thai food know and love, with favourites like pineapple fried rice refreshingly served accompanied by an actual pineapple, instead of simply being over-sauced.
Mishree Cuisine
Since Opening in January 2024, this trendy Indian fusion joint has been a hit for multi-sensory marvels. From craft cocktails served smokey in mossy chests, to elevated takes on traditional Indian dishes, no gastronomic opportunity is overlooked. Try some of the unique drink options, like the Bird Nest, served in a faux eggshell glass inside a bird cage. For an extra immersive meal, visit on special Arabian nights during the weekend.
NeNe Chicken
One of Mississauga’s newest spots, NeNe opened in November, offering decadent tastes of “the world’s most famous Korean fried chicken” in a fast-casual setting. Chicken is available in eight flavours including original and soy garlic. Aside from its namesake offering, the menu also features Korean-style dishes like Beef Bulgogi, Kimchi fried rice and grilled squid. The resto is also licensed, serving a range of drinks including drafts and six varieties of sake.
