The 2024 Seventh World Mahjong Championship will be held in Mississauga, Canada from October 11th to 15th, 2024.
The World Mahjong Championship is the most authoritative and high-level Chinese Mahjong intellectual sports competition in the world hosted by the World Mahjong Organization (WMO). Since the World Mahjong Organization was founded in 2005 in Beijing, China, by 8 countries, its membership has grown to more than 40 countries and regions, and has successfully held six world championships, namely:
The first session: 2007, Emeishan, Chengdu, China
The second session: 2010, Utrecht, Netherlands
The third session: 2012, Qianjiang, Chongqing, China
The 4th: 2015, Jeju Island, South Korea
The fifth session, 2017, Xi’an, Shaanxi, China
The 6th, 2019, Lyon, France
The 7th World Mahjong Championship is the first world championship after the new crown epidemic, and it is also the first top-level event of the World Mahjong Championship to be held in North America. The member organizations of WMO are gearing up to achieve good results in the World Championships. They will hold various forms of selections and competitions, promote a healthy, scientific and friendly mahjong culture, and an atmosphere of intellectual competition. WMO hopes that the Canada MCR Sports Association will give full play to Canada’s unique advantages and resources, demonstrate our wisdom and organizational coordination capabilities, and strive to build this competition into a stage for friendly exchanges and cooperation between countries and people. The Canada MCR Sports Association will definitely go all out to make this world championship the most unique world championship and mahjong event.
