Artscape Atelier, in partnership with Lakeview Village presents the ‘The ptsi maskisina (Mini Moccasin)’ virtual workshop, led by indigenous artist Pandora Wilhelm from Mulberry Design & Engravings, as part of the Discovery Centre Artists-In-Residence Workshop Series.

This offers participants an opportunity to learn about traditional Indigenous knowledge and clothing while exploring their own creative expression. The workshop is designed for participants to create a contemporary pair of miniature moccasins using natural materials such as seed beads, sinew, suede cording, and soft deer hide.

Participants will start by working with the seed beads to create a simple floral design on the toe piece of the moccasin. After completing the beading, they will then assemble the moccasins for display, creating a unique art piece. Although no prior experience is required, participants will benefit from having some comfort with hand sewing and working with seed beads.
