For three days, the heart of Mississauga will be taken over by a new one-of-a-kind winter action sports events. From February 7th to 9th, APIK Mississauga, presented by Samsung Galaxy, will bring together pros and enthusiasts for the ultimate celebration of adrenaline-pumping urban skiing and snowboarding competition. Hailing from Montreal, this is the first time APIK will be hosted in both Mississauga and Ontario.

The public can watch athletes perform mind-blowing tricks for free, while enjoying live music, food trucks, pop-ups, with tons more fun to be had in Mississauga during their visit.

WHAT TO SEE: FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

APIK Mississauga, presented by Samsung Galaxy has an action-packed schedule you won’t want to miss, with more exciting details to be confirmed. Check out the full schedule to create an itinerary perfect for you. 

  • The festival kicks off on Friday evening with a snowskate demonstration from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Ski competition including jam format and best tricks takes place Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Snowboard competition takes place Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Listen to incredible DJ sets, explore pop-up shops, and enjoy delicious bites in between the action all weekend long.

With more than 80 male and female athletes from around the world competing, APIK has an impressive roster for the crowd to cheer on. Among those athletes is American skiing legend Tom Wallisch, Olympic skier and Ontario native Megan Oldham, Canadian Championship gold slopestyle medallist, Quebec snowboarder Frank Jobin, professional Canadian snowboarder Natalie Allport, and Olympic medalist Laurie Blouin.

TIPS FOR PLANNING YOUR VISIT

  • APIK is free for the public to attend, so no need for a ticket to watch the events. Visitors are welcome to bring dogs on a leash and kids and adults alike are encouraged to cheer the athletes on.
  • Free parking is available at Square One Shopping Centre, Living Arts Centre, Civic Centre, and at the Central Library. Public transportation is also available via GO Transit and MiWay Bus.

All competitions and demonstrations will take place at Celebration Square.

WHERE TO STAY

Turn your visit into a vacation with a stay at the nearby Delta Hotels Toronto Mississauga, just a short walk to Celebration Square. After a day at the festival, cool off in the indoor pool before relaxing with some food and drinks at the hotel restaurant Driftwood Social Bar + Table. The hotel also features an on-site Starbucks, so you can grab your caffeine fix and get energized before you venture back to the event.

If you’re flying in, you can also find many luxurious, convenient and cost-effective hotels near Toronto Airport, including Four Points by Sheraton which offers free hotel transfers.
